Stories....

I listened to a couple of clients over the past few days tell me, "I don't like change." "I worry." "I am inconsistent." I have a family history of...." "I have never liked exercise." blah blah.

I talk about 5 important aspects of transformation.

  1. Clean Water

  2. Clean, Healthy Food

  3. Exercise

  4. Rest

  5. Elegant thinking.

It is very important to listen to the stories we weave and tell ourselves and more importantly what we think we believe. Our brain, (the b*tch in the box (BIB) as my daughter calls it), is looking for comfort, control and predictability. It does not want to fail or move away from what it knows or do anything different so it tells us all day long stories and we BELIEVE it!!

It is important to pay attention to what we tell ourselves and inspect our thinking. I like to do the work of Byron Katie and ask the question - Is that true? Is it really true? Most of the time I find that it is just something I have told myself or WAS TOLD a long time ago from someone I trusted and believed. It doesn't mean it is true.

What are you telling yourself that is holding you back? Who told you that? What was the incident that solidified that story? What if you do something different? What if you proved the BIB wrong? Adjusting our thinking will take us further than we ever imagined!
