People ask me all the time which supplements I take. In the past I would have said none. I firmly believe that we get the nutrients we need if we are eating a healthy balanced meal plan. However, these past 2 years, I have started taking supplements to boost my immune system.

Since I am back in the clinical arena after 21 years of working corporate and we are seeing soooooo many sick, sick patients (not all with Covid), I felt it was necessary to boost my possibly lagging immune system to keep us all healthy in this household and it seems to be working.

So here is my regimen.

  • Vitamin D3 5,000 IU/day

  • Vitamin C 1,000mg 1 x daily

  • Quercetin 250mg/day

  • Zinc 30–40mg/day (elemental zinc)

  • Curamed (curcumin) 1 x daily

  • Gargle mouthwash 2 x daily – gargle (do not swallow) antiseptic mouthwash with cetylpyridinium chloride (e.g. ScopeTM, ActTM, CrestTM)

  • After exposure to very respiratory sick patients including with COVID - I will do an Iodine or Silver nasal spray/drops: Use 1% povidone-iodine commercial product as per instructions 2–3 x daily. If 1%-product not available, must first dilute the more widely available 10%-solution6 and apply 4–5 drops to each nostril every 4 hours.

Finally, if I have eaten a large meal or ate things that don't always agree with me, I will take 1800 mg (3 tablets) of activated charcoal to help with digestion and detoxification.

Always check with your doctor as some of these supplements may interfere with your prescribed medications.

Stay healthy!
