Reaction vs. Reflection: Joy
Sure, there has been much to grumble about this past year and perhaps in life in general. In the midst of challenging moments, our gut reaction might be to experience sadness, anger, and act on these feelings. The action might be to point blame, then stew in misery, or take it out on someone else. However, these behaviors only spread to others, like a virus itself.
Perhaps, a less intuitive path in challenge is to choose joy. Sure, challenge can be inconvenient and painful, time consuming or bring some sort of injury. Reflecting on joy can offer greater opportunity for growth, openness and healing -healthier actions. Its a choice one decides for no one else but for themselves. However, the ripple effect can be felt within a community.
